Creating Ceremonies of Connection:
Bringing reverence, gratitude and healing into holidays, personal milestones and everyday life
Take a break from your busy life to rest in circle, refresh yourself with meaningful ceremony, and learn how to stay more deeply connected with yourself, your friends and family, the earth, and your sense of the sacred
Many of us hunger for ways to slow down and become more aware of our lives, our bodies, the rhythms of nature, and the ways we are touched and supported by Spirit. While traditional rituals are intended to do this, all too often these rituals feel like meaningless repetition, or we resist them because we don’t agree with or understand the ritual’s spirituality or intention. And sometimes there are no established rituals to fit our specific circumstances. The intent of this two-session workshop is to expand your creativity about living with joyful meaning and to give you the tools and confidence to create your own personal and small group rituals. In each session you will experience a life-affirming, nondenominational ritual.
Session One: Everyday Living as Celebration (2 1/2 hours)
Together we will explore personal ritual as a spiritual practice, as we consider simple ways to add more mindfulness, gratitude, and beauty to our “ordinary” daily lives. How might we remind ourselves of what we value and learn to cultivate a regular attitude of reverent celebration? Questions addressed include: How does ritual differ from routine? How does ritual and gratitude shift energy and heal us? How might we live our spirituality more in our everyday lives? In what ways can personal altars inspire and heal? How do we find time to nurture ourselves with celebration? Includes participation in a seasonal ceremony.
Session Two: Special Occasions that Nurture Your Spirit (2 1/2 hours)
We will explore how to create nondenominational ceremonies for family and friends to mark seasonal cycles, help move through personal and professional life passages, honor grief and seek support, or set new intentions. Questions addressed include: What are the components of a successful ritual? What steps can we follow to create a ceremony to fit our circumstances and spirituality? Includes participation in a joyful ceremony, and time to begin planning a specific ritual for yourself or your family or friends.
Cost for two-part workshop is $150. 10 person maximum.
